The Salvation Army recently provided more than 300 free meals to members of the Lismore community in northern NSW at an event marking three years since the 2022 floods.

The Stronger Together community gathering on 1 March, organised by Resilient Lismore, brought community members together for a picnic, live music and children’s activities. The Salvation Army Emergency Services (SAES) and the Northern Rivers Corps worked together to serve free curry and nachos at the event.

Five people died and more than 10,000 were left homeless when floods inundated the Northern Rivers region in February and March of 2022.

The Salvation Army Northern Rivers Corps, led by Captains Philip and Donna Sutcliffe, and Salvation Army Emergency Services provided assistance at the time of the flooding, with meals and refreshments for evacuees and first responders.
